As a member of the Jewish community, you are invited to participate in online discussions on how the Augusta Jewish Community Center (AJCC) needs to change in order to remain a key feature of our CSRA Jewish community.

 

 We are currently exploring different ways in which we can restructure our operation to ensure the future of the Center.

 

The AJCC can no longer sustain its facility, based upon the current business model of income from membership dues, rental of facilities, summer activities, allocation from AJF and independent fund-raising activities. Although cost of maintaining the facility has been relatively stable, the aging of the Jewish population, apparent limited needs of the community for the facility, and reduced membership and community support for large fund-raising efforts has resulted in our exhausting our reserve funds and the continued projection of annual deficits of tens of thousands of dollars per year. The Coronavirus emergency this year simply has exacerbated the issue and brought our AJCC to a crisis situation.

 

This is where you come in. We need you to be part of the dialogue.  We need your ideas, comments, and expectations to help us map the future of our AJCC.   We are looking forward to hearing your voice.

 

We are scheduling Zoom sessions over the next few weeks.

 

If you have not participated in prior sessions, we urge you to register, so that we can limit the number of people in each session to assure that everyone will be heard.   We believe that the future of the AJCC is important to us all, so whether you are a member of the AJCC or not, we would like to hear from you.
